Gallantt Ispat's Board has approved a capital expenditure (capex) plan worth Rs 1,014.98 crore to significantly expand its integrated steel plant at Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh.
As per the approved proposal, Gallantt Ispat will boost its steel billet production capacity from 5,28,000 tonne to 8,00,250 tonne. The rolling mill capacity will increase from 528,000 tonne to 805,200 tonne, while sponge iron production will go up slightly from 5,44,500 tonne to 5,60,000 tonne. The company will fund the entire expansion through internal accruals.
The capex includes enhancement of the captive power infrastructure. The current 78 MW capacity of its thermal and waste heat recovery power plant will be upgraded to 100 MW. Additionally, the company will set up a new 100 MW captive solar power plant, further strengthening its sustainability profile and energy self-reliance. "Since expansion in capacities of above units are brown field expansion projects, company has scheduled the completion of the project tenure by March 2026,” Gallantt Ispat stated.
Gallantt Ispat is a prominent steel manufacturer with operations in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, and Kutch, Gujarat. It produces a range of steel products and supports its manufacturing with captive power plants to meet internal energy demands efficiently.
