SMS Group has inaugurated a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Sanand, Ahmedabad, India, covering an area of 80,000 sq. mtrs.

The facility will produce equipment for processing flat and long products, as well as for forging technology. Fabíola Fernandez, CFO at SMS Group, said, “It is an important step toward expanding our presence in this significant growth market and actively supporting the industrial upswing in the country.” The new site is designed to manufacture components weighing up to 125 tonne, and assemble entire production lines. The facility is poised for future growth, with plans for additional investments in machinery and recruitment of skilled workers.

Marco Asquini, CEO of SMS Group’s APAC & MEA region, highlighted that the plant will support India's growing steel production capacity, aiming for 300 MT per year. SMS Group’s investment aligns with the Make in India program, reinforcing its commitment to providing high-quality equipment and services to local customers.
