Union Minister of State for Rural Development Kamlesh Paswan inaugurated Garuda Aerospace’s new Agri-Drone Indigenisation Facility in Chennai on 14 July, 2025.
Spread across 35,000 sq ft, the facility is India’s first-of-its-kind hub for the design, manufacturing, and testing of advanced Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS). A live demonstration by Drone Didis showcased Garuda’s focus on innovation and grassroots empowerment.
The Minister also inaugurated 300 Centres of Excellence (CoEs) and flagged off the DGCA-approved Train the Trainer (TTT) programme, aimed at building a nationwide pool of certified drone instructors. He lauded the Bharat Drone Association for bringing together local component manufacturers under one roof, noting the scale of operations with 2,000 agri-drones displayed at the site.
