On World Environment Day, 2023, Gaurs Group has inaugurated a 15 MW solar power plant at Mahoba near Gwalior, highlighting the project as a significant move towards sustainable development. The project is spread over 50 acres area and built with an investment of Rs 80 crore. The plant will generate 2.25 crore units of electricity annually, with possible future enhancements to suit future requirements.
The electricity produced by the plant will be integrated into the central grid and utilized for the group’s projects, namely, Gaur City Mall, Gaur Central Mall, The Gaurs Sarovar Portico, and Gaur City Centre. The project will ensure a reduction of 18 thousand tonne of CO2 equivalent annually. Solar panels are installed across projects, leading to the optimal use of renewable energy sources.
The company was apparently the first one to adopt solid waste management in the real estate sector, and is known to process waste into compost daily, which is nearly 21,900 metric tonne annually from its delivered projects. Rainwater harvesting is a common element at all project sites. By deploying sewage treatment plant (STP) technology in all its ventures, it aids in treatment of wastewater into usable water.
The project is financed through private equity as well as a funding of Rs 55 crore from a leading bank.
