The Margao Municipal Council (MMC), Goa Energy Development Agency (GEDA), and GD Environmental have signed a tripartite agreement to establish an advanced waste treatment facility in Margao.
This innovative project will introduce a 10- tonne per day gasification-based waste treatment plant at Sonsoddo, replacing the traditional landfill system. The plant, expected to be completed by 2025 or 2026, will be managed by GEDA on behalf of MMC, with GD Environmental responsible for fabrication and installation.
GEDA Managing Director Gauresh Pilgaonkar and MMC Chief Officer Madhu Narvekar were present at the signing, with both emphasising the significance of this project for improving waste management in Margao and ensuring a cleaner, more sustainable future for the city.
