The government has approved the establishment of a new electronics manufacturing cluster (EMC 2.0) in Gautam Buddha Nagar, Uttar Pradesh, with an investment of Rs 417 crore, according to the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology. The cluster, to be developed by the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA), will span 200 acres and is expected to attract investments worth Rs 2,500 crore and generate employment for around 15,000 people.
Union IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said, “The project will lead to the creation of world-class infrastructure and generate 15,000 jobs. It is fully in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of promoting manufacturing in India.” The cluster will support sectors such as consumer electronics, automotive electronics, medical devices, computer hardware, and communication equipment. It will offer plug-and-play infrastructure and shared facilities tailored to MSMEs and startups.
Located near the Yamuna Expressway and the upcoming Jewar International Airport, the cluster enjoys excellent connectivity and proximity to other industrial parks. Infrastructure will include factory sheds, power and water supply, sewage treatment, hostels, and health centers, aiming to reduce logistics and infrastructure costs. The EMC scheme has so far attracted 520 companies and Rs 30,000 crore in investments, generating oemployment to the tune of 86,000.
