The Gujarat government has sanctioned Rs 1,003 crore for Phase-II of the Kharicut canal redevelopment in Ahmedabad, to be implemented by Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC).
This phase covers stretches from S P Ring Road to Naroda Crematorium, Vinzol Canal to Avkar Hall at Ghodasar, Avkar Hall to Vatva Gam, and Vatva Gam to S P Ring Road. The redevelopment plan includes RCC stormwater box structures, road and footpath development, retaining walls, water supply pipelines, irrigation structures, stormwater extensions, and sewer systems.
In Phase-I, 80 percent of the work was completed over 12.75 km, with Rs 700 crore spent from the allocated Rs 1,338 crore. "A sum of Rs 1,338 crore was earlier allocated for Phase 1 of the project. Works were undertaken from Naroda Crematorium to Vinzol in the first phase," the statement said.
