The Gujarat Government has initiated works on the three Narmada branch canals
in Kachchh and North Gujarat.
Narendra Modi, Chief Minister of Gujarat, on 21 May 2011, laid the foundation
stone for the three construction works of Kachchh and Radhanpur branch canal and
its distribution system. The canals with about 986.88 km are to be constructed
at the cost of Rs 712 crore. They will provide Narmada water to 158 villages of
Patan, Banaskantha and Kachchh districts.
