Hindustan Construction Co has been awarded two
hydropower projects by National Hydroelectric Power Corporation . The projects
are Uri –II Hydroelectric Project in Jammu & Kashmir and the Chamera
Hydroelectric Project (Stage III) in Himachal Pradesh.
HCC's scope of work for the Uri-II project
comprises construction of dam, underground power house of 240 MW, head and tail
race tunnels, diversion tunnels, surge shaft, pressure shaft. The contract is
valued at Rs.574.99 crore and the period of completion is 48 months.
The Chamera III project is located in Chamba
district of Himachal Pradesh on the banks of the river Ravi. HCC will construct
the dam, underground power houses (3x77 MW), diversion tunnel, intake tunnels,
underground de-silting chambers, head race tunnel, surge shaft, pressure shaft
and tail race tunnel. The project, valued at Rs.504.87 crore, is scheduled for
completion in 52 months.
HCC was also involved in the earlier stages of
the Chamera project in 1994.
