Further work on the taxiway, which comprises widening of 200 mtrs. near the runway, is going on as well.
The trolley gate is also being set up which will connect the airport complex with the area of the Air Force station. Surveillance cameras have been installed at the boundary gate between airport and the station where the trolley gate has been built. The remaining equipment is expected to be delivered in less than a month.
Among the other pending tasks include the boundary roads, and footpath-related works, which are 15 percent left. A 25 mtrs.-long bridge which connects Aitiana village link road to the airport, is under construction, where slab work is going on. Work up to 98 percent has been completed at the terminal building. Painting, furniture, water connections, and fabric integration on the canopies will be done, while work on the taxiway will take three to four months to complete.
The airport will not only help the local business grow, but also facilitate people of the district and neighbouring areas. As of now, people have to travel to Amritsar, Mohali, and Delhi to catch international flights.
