Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has directed immediate repair of the damaged water pipeline to restore drinking water supply to Panchkula from Kaushalya Dam, replacing the reliance on tube wells.
The CM also instructed the Haryana Urban Development Authority (HSVP) to provide land for a clean water storage facility in the Pinjore-Kalka area. Saini emphasized the need for increased use of surface water over groundwater and the scientific conservation of rainwater. Additionally, the CM called for strengthening the water supply system from Kajauli Water Works and expanding the capacity of pumping motors.
The Irrigation Department has been tasked with developing a plan to enhance Kaushalya Dam's storage capacity. An expert panel will assess the safety and stability of key structures, including Kaushalya Dam, Ottu Head, and Hathnikund Barrage.
