Himadri Speciality Chemical has invested USD 4.43 million to acquire a 16.24 percent stake in International Battery Company (IBC), a US-headquartered lithium-ion battery cell manufacturer.
Announced on 22 May, 2025, the investment , via a mix of preferred and common shares, marks the commercial deployment of Himadri’s lithium iron phosphate (LFP) cathode active and anode materials. The deal also grants Himadri a seat on IBC’s board, reinforcing its strategic involvement in the company’s growth. IBC which operates a 50 MWh lithium-ion battery facility in South Korea, is also developing a large-scale Gigafactory in Bengaluru, India, in partnership with Mahanagar Gas.
This new facility is expected to commence operations in Q4/FY26 and will cater to last-mile fleet operators and two- and three-wheeler OEMs, in addition to serving export requirements globally. This partnership provides Himadri with access to IBC’s robust manufacturing infrastructure and diverse customer base across the US., India, and East Asia.
It significantly enhances Himadri’s capability to conduct commercial testing and large-scale deployment of its battery materials, positioning the company for growth in the rapidly evolving electric mobility and energy storage sectors.
