The redeveloped Hisar airport in Haryana is poised to strengthen regional connectivity and specialised air services. Developed over four to five years at a cost of Rs 1,500 crore, the airport has secured regulatory clearances and is expected to be inaugurated next month.
The expanded facility will support air cargo, aircraft maintenance, and manufacturing, featuring an integrated aviation hub for large aircraft operations, a maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) facility, and an aviation academy. Located over 190 km from Delhi, the airport now spans more than 7,000 acres. It includes an ‘Integrated Manufacturing Cluster’ (IMC) covering 3,000 hectares and parking for around 15 aircraft. With congestion at major airports, Hisar is focusing on specialised services such as MROs and cargo.
Alliance Air has an agreement with the state-backed airport to operate regional flights to Jammu, Jaipur, Ahmedabad, Chandigarh, and Ayodhya. Managed by the Airports Authority of India (AAI), the airport offers ample slot availability, extensive aircraft parking, and just one percent VAT on jet fuel to attract airlines.
The redevelopment, overseen by Haryana Airports Development Corporation (HADC), is structured in three phases. The first phase, involving terminal refurbishment, has been completed. The second phase, currently underway, will facilitate international flight operations, while the third phase is expected to be completed by 2030.
Alliance Air is set to operate the first flight from Hisar to Ayodhya post-inauguration.
