Chief Minister of Punjab Amarinder Singh inaugurated a 100-bed, ultra-modern Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital in Sangrur. The hospital has been set up with financial assistance from the government of Punjab.
Plans are also afoot for a state-of-the-art oncology training centre at the hospital. CM also reviewed the 300-bed Tata Cancer Hospital at Mullanpur near Chandigarh which is expected to be ready by October-November 2019.
A tertiary cancer care centre at Fazilka is also being constructed at a cost of Rs 29 crore, which will be operational by September 2019. Further, Rs 114 crore state cancer institute would be set up at Amritsar. CM also made an announcement of grant of Rs seven crore for Sangrur Civil Hospital.
