Idea Cellular, a part
of Aditya Birla Group is likely to invest Rs.300 crore to provide best of the
telecom services in Karnataka.
The company will
introduce its complete range of mobile telephony products and services for both
existing and other mobile users and intenders in the state. Idea's network in
Karnataka will be extended to over 11,200 town and villages by 2010 from 3,410
towns and villages while total population coverage will be increased from the
present 40 per cent to 78 percent by March 2010 in Karnataka.
The telecom company
who had recently acquired majority stake in Spice Communications in Karnataka is
likely to complete its merger process by June 2009. The company also plans to
extend its operations to Tamil Nadu by May-June 2009.
