India is set to achieve 60-80 GW of renewable energy (RE) by 2030, with a significant contribution from commercial and industrial (C&I) developers.
Santosh Kumar Sarangi, Secretary of the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), emphasised the growing role of C&I developers in the country’s clean energy transition. He noted that rooftop solar installations are spreading across many regions, and this trend is expected to continue. States like Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat have shown strong progress in advancing renewable energy projects, with each state adopting renewable paths suited to their specific needs.
Sarangi also pointed out that India's electricity demand is rapidly increasing, which will drive further demand for renewable power. However, he acknowledged that challenges remain, particularly with integrating renewable energy into the grid, and highlighted the need for immediate attention to address these issues.
