The government of Tamil Nadu on 24 March 2020 announced the creation of an Information Centre Park. It is spread over 150 acre across Nemili and Mannur villages in Sriperumbudur taluk.
The project will entail an investment of Rs 500 crore. The park will be set up by the Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation (TIDCO). The companies at the park will create 3,500 jobs. A Startup and Innovation City will come up in Chennai at a cost of Rs. 350 crore.
The objective was to encourage innovation and help knowledge-based firms by providing the necessary infrastructure and a commercial atmosphere. A private industrial park will be created on 116.24 acre at Kallapalayam village in Coimbatore district through the Coimbatore District Small Industries’ Association, at a cost of Rs 20.96 crore.
The government’s grant for the project is Rs 10 crore. The lakes in Siruseri Sipcot and Navalur will be desilted and bunds strengthened to create walking and cycling paths for the benefit of IT employees and the general public.
The cost of the project is Rs 50 crore. Infrastructure will be created at Manallur, Cheyyaru, Manapparai, Theni, Mankkudi and Chakkarakottai at a cost of Rs. 2,934 crore when Sipcot sets up industrial parks. The funds will come from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and NABARD.
A third-stage water purifying plant will be set up to ensure uninterrupted water supply to factories in Hosur Sipcot. Water will be sourced from Kelavarapalli dam.
