Ingka Investments, part of the Ingka Group that owns most IKEA stores, has announced its first renewable energy investment in India — a 210 MWp solar project in Bikaner, Rajasthan.
The Rs 1,000 crore initiative has reached ready-to-build status, with construction set to begin soon and operations expected by December 2026. Developed in partnership with Germany-based ib vogt, the project will generate about 380 GWh of clean energy annually, supporting IKEA’s retail, shopping, and distribution operations across India. It will create around 450 jobs during construction and 10–15 during operations.
Frederik de Jong, Head of Renewable Energy at Ingka Investments, called it a “milestone acquisition” aligning with the company’s sustainability goals. Globally, Ingka Investments has pledged euro 7.5 billion for achieving 100% renewable energy consumption by 2030, with 4.2 billion euro already committed to solar and wind projects worldwide.
