The Irrigation Department of Uttar Pradesh has awarded two contracts for the works related to canal projects in the state.

Of the two projects one project has been bagged by Valecha Engineering. The company has bagged an order worth Rs 316.87 crore for construction of Rapti Main canal and its distribution system including all earth works and pucca works between Km 114.00 to Km 125.682 in Basti district of Uttar Pradesh. Earlier, in October 2012, the Irrigation Department of Uttar Pradesh has invited bids for the Rapti Main canal irrigation project.

Meanwhile, the Chief Engineer Ram Ganga, Irrigation Department, Government of Uttar Pradesh has declared Sadbhav Engineering as a successful bidder (L1) for another canal project in the state. The works worth Rs 132.95 crore includes earthwork for deepening and widening of Parallel Lower Ganga Canal as perfinal stage theoretical lined sections (8,900 Cusec capacity).
