JBF Industries has tied up with the Ras Al
Khaimah Investment Authority to set up a polyester resin packaging (polyethylene
terephthalate) and polyester films manufacturing facility in Ras Al Khaimah in
UAE.
The plant with a capacity of 900 tonnes per day (tpd)
will produce 600 tpd of solid state polymers and 300 tpd of polyester film. The
plant will use mono ethylene glycol (MEG) and purified terephthalic acid (PTA)
as feedstock, both of which are easily available in the region. The plant will
target export markets in USA, EU and China.
Cost Advantage:
According to JBF Industries, the capital cost of setting up a (polymer) project
in Ras Al Khaimah (UAE) is 20-25 per cent lower compared to other destinations,
on account of better logistics, no duty incidence, low overheads and lesser
bureaucratic encumbrances.
