JSW Infrastructure has successfully handled its maiden urea import and largest sugar export shipments at its Jaigarh Port in Maharashtra. The sugar shipment was the highest among non-major ports in India.
The cumulative cargo of these two commodities was over 5,00,000 tonne. Going forward, JSW Jaigarh Port is expected to receive more urea shipments in coming months.
JSW’s Jaigarh Port is compliant to service large-size cargo vessels handling a wide range of tonnage. JSW Infrastructure plans to focus on expanding its third-party cargo business at Jaigarh Port.
The successful handling of urea shipment vessel MV ER Nazire also opens a new route for the Ministry of Fertiliser to import and distribute fertilisers through Jaigarh Port, enabling a substantial savings in terms of time, logistics and efficiency. The sugar shipment handled was the largest sugar cargo of this season.
Jaigarh Port is well-connected to key regions of Maharashtra, Telangana, Goa, Karnataka and other nearby states. Jaigarh Port is an all-weather, 24x7 multi-purpose common user port. It is also one of the deepest draft ports in India.
With its strategic location between Mumbai and Goa, it has the advantage of servicing cargo from Maharashtra as well as Karnataka. With seven operational berths, JSW Jaigarh Port has a cargo handling capacity of 50 million tpa. The company operates environment-friendly, socially sustainable, world-class port facilities in India and overseas.
The company aims to expand its cargo handling capacity to 200 tpa over the next few years through greenfield and brownfield expansions. It is scaling up its capabilities to improve resource efficiency and extend its geographical reach to boost local trade and commerce.
