JSW Steel's Board of directors had earlier approved a power purchase agreement (PPA) for procurement of renewable power totaling to 1,637 MW at Vijayanagar, Dolvi, Salem and Anjar. Of this, 375 MW has already been commissioned, and another 580 MW will be commissioned by March 2025.

The Board has further approved procurement of a hybrid renewable energy (RE) generation capacity of 600 MW (200 MW Solar and 400 MW Wind) at Dolvi in Maharshtra, 60 MW at Salem, Tamil Nadu and 210 MW at JSW steel coated products, taking the generation capacity under procurement to 2,507 MW. The additional capacities will be commissioned in FY27.

Among ongoing projects, the hot strip mill of the five MTPA project at Vijayanagar, set up by JSW Vijayanagar Metallics (JVML), was commissioned in March 2024. The raw material handling system, sinter plant and the blast furnace have also been commissioned, while the steel melt shop is in commissioning stage, and ramp up would happen in Q4/FY25.

At BPSL, the Phase-II expansion from 3.5 MTPA to 4.5 MTPA has been completed and major equipment and facilities have been commissioned. At JSW Steel Coated Products, commissioning activities have commenced at the colour coated line of 0.12 MTPA in J&K. The 30 MTPA slurry pipeline in Odisha is also in progress, with commissioning expected in FY27.
