JSW Steel has reported its highest ever consolidated crude steel production for the fourth quarter of FY25, reaching 7.63 million tonne (MT). This marks a nine percent quarter-on-quarter (QoQ) and 12 percent year-on-year (YoY) increase in operational performance.
The company’s Indian operations also recorded its highest quarterly crude steel production at 7.40 MT, a nine percent QoQ and 13 percent YoY rise. Notably, this figure includes trial run production of 0.21 MT, up from 0.12 MT in Q3/FY25. Capacity utilisation for Indian operations stood at a solid 93 percent for the quarter, excluding trial runs.
A key highlight during the quarter was the continued ramp-up of the five MTPA integrated steel project at Vijayanagar, operated by JSW Vijayanagar Metallics (JVML), a wholly owned subsidiary. Following the commissioning of the 4.5 MTPA blast furnace, raw material handling system, and sinter plant in Q2/FY25, JVML successfully commissioned one of the two converters and casters at its Steel Melt Shop during Q3/FY25. The production ramp-up at the site is progressing steadily.
Once fully operational, the JVML facility will raise Vijayanagar’s total crude steel capacity to 17.5 MTPA, thereby increasing JSW Steel’s total Indian crude steel capacity to 34.2 MTPA. The continued commissioning of new capacities and improved output efficiency reflect a strong outlook for the company’s future growth trajectory.
