Jabil, a global electronics contract manufacturer and key Apple supplier, will invest Rs 2,000 crore to set up a new electronics manufacturing facility in Tiruchirapalli, Tamil Nadu. An MoU was signed between the state government delegation, led by Chief Minister MK Stalin, and Jabil in the presence of senior company officials.
Jabil’s new facility is expected to further give a boost to Apple’s supplier ecosystem in the state. This investment is expected to generate around 5,000 employment opportunities in the region.
Earlier this year, Jabil began producing AirPod components for Apple in India and currently operates an 8,58,000 sq. ft. facility in Pune. Jabil provides electronics manufacturing services to major global firms including Apple, Cisco, and operates facilities in India, Malaysia, China and the USA.
Additionally, the state government also signed an MoU with Rockwell Automation to expand its electronics manufacturing unit in Kanchipuram with Rs 666-crore outlay.
It also signed an MoU with Autodesk to enhance youth skills and improve the competitiveness of MSMEs and startups within the state’s industrial ecosystem. The CM is currently on an official visit to the US to attract investments in the state.
