The Tuticorin Port Trust has reportedly selected Belgium based Jan de Nul for
dredging at the port in Tamil Nadu. The Trust is likely to issue the work order soon.
The Rs 460-crore contract includes removal of six million cubic mtrs of soil,
mostly rock, over a span of two years. On completion, the average draft in the
port is expected to rise from the present 10.7 to 12.8 mtrs.
Meanwhile, the Trust has also short-listed India Port Terminal and ABG for
construction of a shallow water jetty in the port at an estimated cost of Rs 82
crore.
