Japanese companies Kyowa Leather Cloth Company and Meira Corporation have applied for 10-acre plots each from the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) to set up manufacturing units near the Noida airport.

Together, their investments are expected to total Rs 900 crore. Kyowa, a global supplier of synthetic leather, plans a joint venture with India's Krishna Group to produce materials for automotive interiors, targeting clients like Maruti Suzuki and Toyota. Meira Corporation will establish a high precision bolt manufacturing plant, supplying fasteners for Escorts Kubota's upcoming tractor facility.

These investments reflect the growing attraction of the region for Japanese companies, particularly in sectors like automotive and medical technology. YEIDA also plans a ‘Japanese City’ and a ‘Korean City’ to create industrial hubs for global manufacturers.
