After having established itself in the hydropower
sector, the Delhi-based Jaypee Group has planned to foray in thermal power
generation.
The group has outlined plans of setting up a
1,000 MW thermal power project in Madhya Pradesh. Costing Rs.4,000 crore, the
mega project would be financed through a debt-equity ratio of 3:1. A subsidiary
of Jaiprakash Hydropower will set up the project in four modules of 250 MW each.
The group is currently tying up feedstock for the project, it is learnt.
The group currently operates the 300 MW Bapsa
(II) hydropower project in Himachal Pradesh. Two other projects -- the 400 MW
Vishnuprayag project in Uttaranchal and the 1,000 MW Karcham-Wangtoo project in
Himachal Pradesh. The projects are likely to commission by 2006 and 2009,
respectively.
