Jindal (India) has received nod from the High-Level Clearance Authority (HLCA) of the Odisha government for setting up a greenfield steel manufacturing plant in the state. The initial phase of the project involves an investment of Rs 3,600 crore, with plans to invest Rs 15,000 crore in three phases by 2030.
The approved facility will focus on producing special coated steel products and will include advanced coating facilities such as a Cold Rolling Mill (CRM), Continuous Galvanizing Line (CGL), and Colour Coating Line (CCL). These units will collectively have a production capacity of 9.6 lakh tonne annually. The first phase is targeted for commissioning by 2027.
In addition, Jindal India Steel Tech (JISTL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Jindal (India) will work simultaneously to expand the overall capacity of the plant to 30 lakh MT per annum, in flat steel products by 2030. “This major approval paves the way for long-term industrial growth in Odisha and reinforces Jindal’s commitment to high-value steel manufacturing in India,” the company said in a statement.
