Kerala Space Park (K-Space) has earmarked approx. 180 acres across three strategic locations to establish an integrated defence industrial park (IDIP), a liquid propulsion system complex, and an aerospace control systems complex, aiming to transform Thiruvananthapuram into a major aerospace and defence manufacturing hub.
The 100- acre IDIP is planned near Kuttichal in Kattakada, the 13-acre liquid propulsion complex at Valiyamala, and a 60-acre aerospace control systems hub at Veli. These projects are part of the broader Space Park initiative at Technopark Phase IV, Pallipuram. CEO G Levin stated, “The DPRs for various components have been submitted to state govt and KIIFB for financial sanction.” Land acquisition will begin after government approvals, followed by calls for private partners.
A Rs 241 crore loan from NABARD supports the construction of a common facility centre and R&D centre, which is underway with completion expected in 30 months. The initiatives aim to generate nearly 6,700 high-value roles initially.
