KPI Green Energy has started supplying power from its 200-MWac/240-MWdc solar farm in Gujarat after successfully synchronising with the grid.
The project was awarded to KPI through a competitive bidding process by Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam (GUVNL) and is backed by a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA), ensuring fixed tariff revenues. The initial power injection into the state grid marks the commissioning of one of the first solar projects at the 1.8-GW GSECL Solar Park in Khavda. The site benefits from high solar irradiation of around 2,060 kWh per sq. mtrs. and over 300 sunny days a year, making it ideal for large-scale solar projects.
Other factors such as the area's flat terrain, proximity to grid infrastructure, and supportive state renewable energy policies have also played a key role in the project’s success. KPI expects the solar farm to provide steady revenues, supporting its strategy to expand its independent power producer portfolio and assist Gujarat in achieving its renewable energy goals.
