During May 2007, the Karnataka government has given clearance to major IT projects, including by Info Experts Incorporation's IT/BPO Service Centre at Mangalore with an investment of Rs.46 crore.

Karnataka Udyog Mitra is a 'single contact point' for all investors who are looking at setting up businesses in Karnataka. As the nodal agency, its role is to facilitate investments and execute initiatives to enable a smooth transition, from receiving an investment proposal to the eventual implementation of the project.

During May 2007, it had cleared around 50 new projects of various sectors entailing total investment of Rs.664 crore. It includes iron & steel sector with an investment of Rs.90 crore, hotel sector of Rs.77 crore, Alcohol & derivatives sector of Rs.68 crore, textile sector of Rs.69 crore and electrical machinery sector with an investment of Rs.13 crore. In March 2007, the committee cleared nearly 45 projects entailing an investment of Rs.1,020 crore.
