The Karnataka Government will set up an Information Technology Investment
Region (ITIR) near Devanahalli (in the vicinity of Bangalore International
Airport) on 10,000 acre with an investment of Rs 2,00,000 crore in two phases.
In Phase I, an integrated IT city will come up on 2,200 acre involving an
investment of Rs 40,000 crore in three to four years. Around Rs 1,60,000 crore
is to be spent in Phase II over a period of 10 to 15 years.
As per sources, 55 companies had evinced interest in setting up operations in
the ITIR.
KEONICS is the nodal agency for the ITIR and US based Deloitte had prepared
the DPR and submitted it to the Union Government along with the project
proposal.
