Kirloskar Brothers (KBL) plays a pivotal role in India's self-reliance by powering the Indian Navy’s three latest indigenous combat vessels - stealth frigate INS Nilgiri, destroyer INS Surat, and submarine INS Vaghsheer. KBL supplied high-performance canned motor pumps (CMP) designed for both seawater and freshwater applications within the ships’ HVAC systems.
Commissioned on 15 January, 2025, these ships mark a significant milestone in India's naval capabilities. INS Nilgiri is the lead vessel of the Project 17A class frigates, INS Surat is the final destroyer in the Project 15B series, and INS Vaghsheer completes the Scorpene-class submarine fleet. These advanced warships enhance India’s maritime strength and bolster national security.
These pumps provide superior reliability and durability, essential for the demanding naval environment. This achievement underscores KBL’s engineering excellence and commitment to supporting India’s defence sector.
KBL specialises in manufacturing pumps, valves, hydro-turbines, and integrated systems for diverse applications. The company caters to key industries, including water supply, power generation, irrigation, oil & gas, construction, and marine & defence.
