The infrastructure work of Phase-II of Infopark, Kochi, is completed and ready for inauguration next month.
Spread over 160 acre, the project’s 60 per cent of land at Phase-II has been sold, and the companies that are coming up in the new phase include Cognizant Technology Solutions (CTS).
Cognizant’s plan is for a total of 20 lakh sq ft space in Phase-II. To start with, it will open its centre on seven lakh sq ft, providing jobs for 6,000 software engineers.
The expansion of Infopark follows requests from various IT companies and developers for space and land. Phase-II extends to the neighbouring Kunnathunad and Puthencruz villages of Kunnathunad Taluk of Ernakulam district.
Phase-II envisages infrastructure development for cost effective BPO complexes; software development blocks in SEZ and non SEZ clusters; utility services including substation, water treatment plant, sewage treatment plant, road network etc.
Apart from the built-up space for IT, the park will have a large business convention centre (the first of its kind in Kochi), budget hotels, shopping complexes, commercial centres, recreation and entertainment centres.
