Gangavaram Port has awarded a Rs.411
crore EPC contract to Larsen & Toubro for the Gangavaram Port project (Phase I)
in Andhra Pradesh. L&T will execute the project by December 2007. The site of
the deep water port project is at Gangavaram, about 15km south of Visakhapatnam.
Phase I of the Gangavaram Port is designed to handle 35 million tonnes of cargo
per year.
The scope of work involves
construction of two breakwaters having a total length of approximately 2.6 km
and five berths for handling various types of cargos. L&T will execute some
onshore civil works.
