Larsen & Tourbo, on 13 March 2006,
announced the successful completion of ONGC's mega order of constructing nine
offshore platforms in the Mumbai High (South) region.
The project is expected to boost
ONGC's oil production by around 2.15 million tonnes per year and gas production
by 3.87 mmscmd. L&T was awarded this contract, valued at Rs.1,006 crore, in
February 2004. The turnkey contract included complete engineering, procurement,
fabrication and installation of the platforms. The order entailed the use of
over 40,000 tonnes of steel and equipment.
