L&T is likely to bid for construction of airports in Oman, Abu Dhabi and at a couple more places in West Asia.

The company did not disclose the size of the projects. However, these projects are likely to be in the range of $1-1.2 billion (approx Rs 4,500-5,300 crore). Bidding for these projects is likely to be completed in 2010 itself.

L&T has been involved in construction activities at all major airports in India where modernisation and development work has been going on. In Mumbai, it is building the integrated passenger terminal that will cater to domestic and international passengers. At Delhi airport, it is involved in design and construction work of the terminal, runway and associated works.

For the Hyderabad and Bangalore greenfield airport projects, the company undertook a major construction work on EPC basis. It was also a part of the consortium that built the Bangalore International Airport.
