The Kolkata Metro Railway has opened its largest station at Noapara on 11 July 2013.
The new 25th station of the metro rail station –Noapara is 2.2 km from the Dum Dum stop has three elevators and six escalators for the ease of passengers, and it will link the city and Barasat in North 24-Parganas. There are four platforms instead of two and a host of other facilities.
The project is being executed by Rail Vikas Nigam. It involves laying of railway network through four main routes- Joka and BBD Bag, New Garia and Dum Dum (via Rajarhat), Noapara and Barasat (via Airport), and Dum Dum-Barrackpore Dakshineswar-at an estimated cost of Rs 11,000 crore. RVNL has engaged RITES to conduct survey and prepare DPR for the project.
