National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) envisages to complete the work on Lucknow Outer Ring Road (ORR) by December this year. Construction of two railway over bridges (ROBs) and one bridge over the Agra-Lucknow expressway is under development.
The project seeks to facilitate pilgrims to reach the Ram temple in Ayodhya. As of now, about 20 percent of work is pending on the project between Behta (next to Mohan) and Sitapur highway (next to Bakshi-Ka-Talab).
The project worth Rs 3,500 crore commenced in 2020. There would be two service lanes on each side of the ORR, making it an eight-lane project. The flyover approach work is in progress on the highway connecting Lucknow and Hardoi, as well as at Gomti River. Construction of an underpass at Jehta Mall Road was also underway.
In addition, the construction of B-loop 'leaf' for entry and exit from Kanpur and Lucknow side on the ORR is under progress on the section connecting Rae Bareli highway and Kanpur highway.
