Lyfius Pharma has announced the inauguration of its Penicillin-G manufacturing facility, at Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh. The plant, with an annual production capacity of 15,000 tonne was virtually inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the presence of Union Minister of Chemicals & Fertilizers, Health & Family Welfare, Jagat Prakash Nadda Union Minister of Labour & Employment, Youth Affairs & Sports, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya and other ministers.
Under the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme, Lyfius Pharma has invested Rs 2,500 crore, exemplifying private sector participation to drive innovation, and enhance healthcare security. Commercial production is to be ramped up in FY25, enhancing domestic production of critical key starting materials (KSMs), drug intermediates (DIs), and active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs).
The PLI scheme for the pharmaceutical sector aims to strengthen domestic manufacturing capabilities in these areas, establishing India as a global pharmaceutical manufacturing hub. It also marks the company's efforts to enhance local production and reduce import dependency for critical pharmaceutical ingredients.
