MAHAGENCO’s 125 MW Shivajinagar Sakri solar plant is unlikely to come into reality as the State Forest Department has issued notice putting claim on the land in Maharashtra.
The forest department has recently issued a notice to MAHAGENCO claiming that a substantial portion of land on which the plant is being built, belongs to the department.
It received all major clearances and was announced by the state government in May. German development bank KfW has already given a Euro 250 million (approx Rs 1,687.5 crore) reduced-interest loan for the project. Now, MAHAGENCO is mulling to shift the Rs 1,987 crore project to Chandrapur district in the state. It has reportedly begun some initial soil testing there.
