The Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC), is planning to take up the revival of Sewri fort in Mumbai as a pilot project.
The Corporation has mooted a cost of Rs 11 crore for the revival of the fort. After successful completion of this project, the Corporation is planning to replicate the same with all other forts which are not recognised by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) or the state directorate.
The makeover plan of the Sewri fort includes a museum, mini-theatre, souvenir shop and an open deck restaurant.
The Corporation has taken up the project with the aim of reviving tourism at Sewri Fort which is known for the presence of migratory Flamingos.
Apart from the Sewri Fort in Mumbai, the MTDC is also looking to revive other monuments which include the Worli and Bandra fort.
