Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd (MTNL) plans to spend Rs 1,724 crore during the
current fiscal. A major part of the investment is being planned to boost the
wireless and broadband business of the company.
Of the total expenses planned around Rs 200 crore would be spent on laying
optic fibre lines in Delhi and Mumbai.
MTNL plans to add 10 lakh new subscribers this year. The new subscriber
additions will include both 2G (second generation) and 3G (third generation)
users. At present, MTNL has around 40 lakh customers in Delhi and Mumbai.
