Urban mobility in Pune is set for a significant upgrade as MahaMetro advances plans for a 20-km Metro corridor connecting Shivajinagar to Kondhwa, with an added spur to the NIBM area and Yewalewadi.
This proposed extension will integrate with the ongoing Hinjewadi-Shivajinagar Metro (PMR-3) project, being implemented under the publicprivate partnership (PPP) model by Tata. The detailed project report (DPR) is expected within three months after appointing a consulting agency, which is currently in its final selection stage. Once completed, the DPR will be submitted to the state government and later to the Centre for final approval.
Additionally, MahaMetro is exploring plans to extend the Hadapsar Metro line to Saswad under Line-4, enhancing connectivity to the upcoming Purandar airport and improving access across Pune’s western, southern, and eastern zones.
