The South Central Railway (SCR) is redeveloping three key suburban railway stations in Hyderabad — Hafizpet, Huppuguda, and HiTech City, with modern infrastructure under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme.
The total project cost is Rs 81.97 crore, and the stations are expected to be ready for public use within the next three months. Upgrades include modern waiting halls, wide foot overbridges with lifts and escalators, digital signboards, new facades, and enhanced amenities such as disabled-friendly restrooms and expanded circulating areas. Hafizpet station, handling 9,000 daily passengers, is being upgraded at Rs 29.21 crore. Huppuguda, serving 5,000 daily users, is receiving a second entry point and improved facilities at Rs 26.81 crore.
The station at HiTech City, with 4,000 passengers, is being developed at Rs 25.95 crore with a new booking office and facade. These stations are among 40 in Telangana selected under the scheme, with a total outlay of Rs 2,752 crore. The foundation stones were laid between August 2023 and February 2024.
