A new Metro Corridor between Sitabuldi and Koradi has been finalised as part of the recently unveiled Comprehensive Mobility Plan (CMP) for the Nagpur Metropolitan Region.
The announcement came following a high-level stakeholder meeting held on 27 July, 2025, attended by Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, among other officials. The CMP, jointly prepared by MahaMetro and RITES, is designed to guide the development of mass rapid transit corridors in the region, taking into account traffic density, projected ridership, and long-term mobility requirements.
Under CMP Phase 1, two High Capacity MRTS corridors have been proposed: the 11.5 km Sitabuldi-Koradi corridor and the 25 km Mankapur Chowk–Rachana Junction stretch along the Inner Ring Road. Together, the two projects are expected to cost Rs 8,625 crore. Of these, the Sitabuldi-Koradi corridor has been prioritised based on Peak Hour Peak Direction Traffic (PHPDT) analysis and ridership forecasts.
According to MahaMetro officials, the Sitabuldi-Koradi route is expected to handle a daily ridership of 1.47 lakh commuters by 2054. Additionally, a Metro Phase IV has been proposed, though specific routes under this phase are yet to be disclosed.
