The Maharashtra Cabinet, chaired by CM Devendra Fadnavis, has approved Rs 931.15 crore for the construction of the Bhandara–Gadchiroli Access Controlled Super Communication Expressway.
Spanning 94.241 km, the four-lane greenfield project will be executed by MSRDC and linked to the Mumbai–Nagpur Samruddhi Expressway, enhancing connectivity across Vidarbha. According to officials, the alignment passes through over 60 villages in five talukas of Nagpur, Bhandara, and Chandrapur districts. "The expressway will reduce road distance by 23 km and travel time between Gadchiroli, Bhandara, and further towards Nagpur and Mumbai," a senior official noted.
The corridor will benefit surrounding towns, integrating them into Maharashtra’s broader expressway network. Aimed at boosting socio-economic activities in underconnected areas, the project is expected to improve logistics, promote industry, support agriculture, and enhance tourism. Earlier, MSRDC had invited bids for the first segment (BG-01), estimated at Rs 1,854.16 crore, with four bidders participating.
