Telangana Chief Minister, K Chandrashekhar Rao dedicated the Mallanna Sagar reservoir to the people of the state. The reservoir is part of the multi-purpose Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme (KLIS) fourth link.
The project would end the drinking water woes of Hyderabad permanently. It would take three years for the entire project to reach its full storage capacity of 50 TMC ft as per the Central Water Commission guidelines.
At present, about 10.64 TMC ft water is available in Mallanna Sagar reservoir which will receive another 5.5 TMC ft in a few days. Another 15.5 TMC ft water will be added during the next monsoon.
