The International Standard Greenfield Airport at Nagchala in Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh is awaiting in-principle approval as well as the detailed project report (DPR), which is yet to be submitted to the Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA).
Of the two stages of approval, the MoCA has already granted first-stage clearance of the site to the Government of Himachal Pradesh for the project on 4 July, 2022.For the development of this airport, the state government and the Airports Authority of India (AAI) had signed a joint venture (JV) agreement on 24 April, 2022.
According to the JV, the Himachal government is responsible for providing grants for all the capital expenditure for the airport project.
The timeline for the construction of airports will depend on various factors, including land acquisition, financial closure, and all the mandatory approvals.
