Union Minister
for Petroleum & Natural Gas, Mr Ram Naik, inaugurated the Rs.667 crore Mangalore-Hassan-Bangalore
pipeline on 11 October 2003. The pipeline traverses through 238 villages in 17 talukas of the
districts namely Dakshina Kannada, Chikamagalur, Hassan, Mandya, Tumkur,
Bangalore urban and Bangalore rural and ends at Devana Gundi in Bangalore.
The 363 km pipeline will have a final throughput
capacity of 8.5 million tonnes and a capacity of 5.6 million tpa in the first
phase. The trial runs had commenced from 30 June 2003.
